Red, White and Blueshirts

There’s not much happening in Ranger Land today as Glen Sather and Co. seem to have taken the holiday weekend off to regroup after this busy past week. If any news breaks, I’ll bring it to you immediately. If you are having withdrawals, there are some interesting reads around the ‘net today.

Hockey’s Future has an in-depth review of last week’s Prospect Orientation Camp here. It seems Mike Del Zotto was not nearly as impressive in their eyes as he was in the eyes of most of the beat writers who had been reporting back from the camp all week. Larry Brooks writes about the controversial Donald Brashear signing and it’s possible locker room effects here and has comments from an “excited” Christopher Higgins about joining the Rangers.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend and i’ll be back with more tomorrow.

UPDATE (11:45 PM)- Nikolai Zherdev and Ryan Callahan have elected to go to salary arbitration for the upcoming season. More details on this story tomorrow.

Nice blog. Very professional and a decent read.
Just a bit of advice: Don’t bother referring to, putting faith in or believing anything posted on Hockey’s Future. To say those guys are amateurs is to put it mildly. Most fans with an ounce of hockey savvy realize this, so the site becomes a dumping ground for Web crawlers who have never seen any of the players they comment on in person. Just to hammer this point home, HF was referring to former Ranger-pick Jamie Lundmark as a future Steve Yzerman right up until he was traded for Jeff Taffe. That was when I stopped reading…

Thank you for the comment…I do think Hockey’s Future has gone down in quality over the last year but I still think it does a pretty good job with it’s organizational rankings.
